Toyota and Maruti have signed up for a joint venture where both the manufacturers will work together to come out with better products for the consumers. Toyota Glanza is the first product to come out under this joint venture. Is the new Toyota Glanza a new product or is just a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno? Here is our story on how the new Glanza stakes against the Maruti Baleno.
Toyota Glanza launch will take place later the month of May 2019. Maruti Suzuki will be manufacturing the new upcoming Glanza completely with some minor cosmetic changes. Changes include the Toyota logo, Glanza badge and the variant badge. Except that, the new Glanza is same as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
The new Glanza will get a petrol engine option only. However, Toyota will offer both manual and automatic transmission(CVT) options. Meanwhile, the petrol motor on offer is a Maruti sourced 1.2-litre unit which complies to meet the BS-IV norms. However, it is unclear if the motor will be the new dual-jet from the Maruti Suzuki or the standard 1.2-litre VVT.
Toyota Glanza is expected to be offered in two variants ‘G’ and ‘V’ only. Meanwhile, the pricing of the Glanza will be on the higher side. Additionally, where the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno itself stand against the upcoming Glanza, the pricing will play a major role.
What is the potential benefit of owning the re-badged Toyota Glanza against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno?
The potential benefit of owning a Toyota Glanza will be the brand value of the Toyota and the warranty on offer from the brand. 3-year/1,00,000km will be the standard warranty on offer with the new upcoming Glanza. Maruti Suzuki offers a standard 2-year/40,000km warranty with its Baleno. Moreover, the Glanza customer can opt for extended warranty options. Extended warranty options with the upcoming new Glanza include True package which covers 5 years and the Timeless package which covers 7-years.
