Since the introduction of the Tata Motors H5X in the 2018 Auto Expo, Tata Motors kept the Tata Harrier in limelight. Besides that, the pre-production unit was caught multiple times and Tata was testing the H5X at higher altitudes of the Himalayas as well. Now, Tata Harrier diesel engine is officially declared by the Tata Motors. Tata Harrier will be the toughest vehicle ever built by the Tata Motors and it will be capable of conquering any terrain is what Tata says.
Tata Harrier diesel engine is a 2.0L four-cylinder KRYOTEC motor. Because this KRYOTEC engine is inspired by Cryogenic rocket engine it will be powerful and reliable. Tata has focused on performance and refinement of this diesel engine. Official power and torque figures are not available but as per the reports, it will churn out 140 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Most noteworthy it will be available with 6-speed manual and also a 6-speed automatic transmission option. A new eVGT is ploncked into this diesel engine which is electronically controlled and reduces turbo-lag and improves the performance. With better-tuned exhaust after treatment system, the carbon footprint is said to be lower.
At the core, Tata Harrier will be built on Tata’s Omega Arc platform which is essentially Land Rover’s D8 architecture. Consequently, it ensures that the upcoming Tata Harrier is going to be very strong in the off-road department.
