Global NCAP revealed Hyundai Elite i20 2018 Crash Test scores today. The remark on the results was the unstable build quality. Global NCAP performed the crash tests under their “#SaferCarsforAfrica” program. The model used in Hyundai Elite i20 2018 Crash Test gets four-channel ABS, seatbelt pre-tensioners for the front seats, seatbelt reminder and dual front airbags as standard. Crash tests were performed at the standard test speed of 64 kmph.

The Elite i20 scored 3 stars in safety ratings for adult occupants. The reason published by the Global NCAP is structure and footwell area. Also, the Elite i20 does not get knee airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags.

Hyundai Elite i20 2018 Crash Test Score For Child Occupants:

A 3-year old dummy was tested in the child seat recommended by Hyundai. The Global NCAP says that these seats provided limited protection. The i20 scored 2 stars for the child occupants.

Most noteworthy, Hyundai India exports the Hyundai Elite i20 to Africa. Hence the safety ratings for the elite i20 on sale in India are same. It is interesting to note that the Euro-spec Hyundai i20 scored 4 stars in safety ratings from the EURO NCAP.

Global NCAP says that the structure on this i20 is different from the Euro-spec Hyundai i20. It does not get side airbags, curtain airbags and the Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Above all, it does not get the ISOFIX child-seat mounts as well. In contrast, the Euro-spec i20 gets these safety equipments as standard.
